It’s why we are shaping patient care for the future, working along the whole experience to give hope to billions of lives across the world.What you’ll doAs a Medical Advisor at AstraZeneca, you will be the primary scientific partner for our Oncology/Haematology Therapeutic Area, shaping medical strategy, driving cross-functional excellence, and building trusted scientific partnerships with external experts and organizations. You will combine deep scientific expertise with impactful stakeholder engagement to advance patient outcomes and support launch excellence across our portfolio.Key responsibilities
Scientific engagement: Build two-way scientific relationships with Key External Experts (KEEs). Participate in advisory boards, congresses, and scientific society activities; organize external medical education for HCPs and support disease awareness initiatives.
Strategic leadership and collaboration: Contribute to the development and execution of the Oncology/Haematology medical strategy. Partner closely with Brand Teams to plan activities aligned with business objectives and upcoming launches.
Internal education: Design and deliver therapeutic area and product training as needed
Medical review and compliance: Review and approve promotional and non-promotional materials to ensure scientific accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Market access and regulatory support: Provide targeted medical input during reimbursement processes; contribute to SmPC updates, authority correspondence, and Risk Management materials in partnership with Regulatory Affairs and Patient Safety.
Clinical studies and RWE: lead or support Real-World Evidence projects, non-interventional studies
Cross-team connectivity: Work closely with medical colleagues across cluster, regional, and global teams. Prepare and deliver internal presentations as required.
Medical information: Respond to unsolicited medical information requests through approved channels, ensuring compliance with copyright and internal SOPs.
Continuous development: Maintain and expand professional knowledge to uphold scientific excellence.
What you’ll bring
Education: University degree in medicine (MD), pharmacy (PharmD), or life sciences (MSc)
Experience: Experience in Medical Affairs in a multinational pharmaceutical company, advantageous, however we can consider profiles from a Medical Science Liaison or Clinical Research Associate background
Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, health care systems and payer structures in the Baltic countries
Strong strategic thinking and ability to drive TA medical strategy
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and creativity
Proven expertise in discussing scientific content and context to a variety of audiences
Established project management ability
Precision, reliability, and a growth mindset
Fluent in Latvian & English (written and spoken),
Ability to travel
Driver’s license required

Medical knowledge in Oncology/Haematology and related areas
Insight into product development from discovery to launch
Additional professional qualification
Business acumen and customer focus; strong influencing and negotiation skills
